News: Police Arrest Lagos Bank Robbers

The gang had robbed First Bank and a new generation at Ogolonto and carted away huge sums of money.

The police in Lagos in the aftermath of the public outrage triggered by the robbery and the manner of escape via the Ikorodu lagoon, offered a N5 million reward for information.

But no sooner after the robbery, one of the suspects ran into a military checkpoint on the Sagamu-Benin expressway. He was on his way to Okitipupa. But after the soldiers found in his bag bundles of crisp naira notes, still wrapped in CBN nylon, he was promptly arrested.

The soldiers alerted the Lagos command on the development.

The Lagos Command under Kayode Aderanti raced to pick the suspect.

Further interrogation led to the arrest of three other members of the gang.

There is certainly more work to be done as witnesses had said the gang members were about 12, led by a young woman, with an estimated age of 20.
