Coalition call for reinstatement of the unlawfully sacked vice chancellors by President Buhari.via @Adungbe


 

The Coalition of Civil Society Group today organized a peaceful protest with their affiliated member unions numbering hundreds when they blocked National Assembly entrance and Ministry of Education this morning submitting their letters of demand to the leadership of National Assembly and the Minister of Education respectively.

The leadership of the coalition, Comrade Etuk Bassey Williams while addressing his members called for immediate reversal of the unlawful dismissal of 5 out of the Vice Chancellors and call for due process on the once whose term is suppose to expire this week. He went further to say that, the act of sack and appointment contravenes University Act and thus form basis for reversal.

The group went ages to demand for full implementation of University Autonomy and that issue of federal character should be respected and implemented, and that laid down process for removal and appointment of new Vice Chancellors should be strictly followed for the sake of Education sector.

The Save our Education rally as organized by the group gave an ultimatum as nobody from Ministry of Education attended to the peaceful protesters, while the letter for leadership of National Assembly was received by sergeant at arm.  A 48 hours ultimatum was giving for response before demand for removal of Minister of Education before they approach law court for reversal of the unlawful act.
