The University of
Lagos was thrown into a mourning atmosphere when the news broke of the death of
one of its vibrant Student Activist Seun Paul who was among the 19 people
involved in the ghastly road accident on the Lagos Ibadan expressway on Sunday
19th of June.
The activist was
said to be a close ally to a Shomolu based Local Government Chairmanship
aspirant Mr. Ojomu Taiwo, a call was put across to him on his mobile number
when the news of Ogunjide’s demise went viral on social media, he
authoritatively confirmed to us that Seun went for a church programme in Ibadan
from Friday and they were still communicating even till on Sunday shortly
before he died.
He narrated further
that when he expected to see him arrived in Lagos and no show, he began to call
his number which was not going, he waited till Monday morning and coincidentally
Seun’s family called him to ask about him and he told them that he also have
been trying to reach him on the telephone with no luck.
On Monday
afternoon, in their frantic effort to know Seun’s whereabouts, they were hinted
of an accident of a bus that collided with trailer on Ibadan-Lagos Expressway,
this prompted their curiosity and they began to make contacts which later
revealed to them that Seun was one of the accident victims.
Since confirmation
of his death, Student and Staff of University of Lagos especially those in his
former Faculty in the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) have been in mourning
state of mind, it was gathered that Student will be holding a candle light
procession for the Late Student Union activist on campus Today, Thursday 23rd
of June.
Seun Paul Ogunjide
was a graduate of Business Administration and Public Relations Officer of his
faculty in Distance Learning during 2012/2014 academic session.
Seun was the
founder of Success P Initiative, an educational tutorial center providing
information, coaching and mentoring classes of prospective University for Lagos
applicants.
No doubt he would be greatly missed by his friends, family and the
entire University of Lagos Community.
