Rep Soyinka plans empowerment program for constituents


The lawmaker representing Surulere Federal Constituency 2 in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olatunji Soyinka has earmarked series of programs for his constituents in order to celebrate his first year office.


Soyinka, who is a first timer in the lower legislative chamber and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Hon. Hakeem Bamgbola at the 2015 general elections.

The program which is slated to be held on Sunday, 28th of August at the Muslim Praying Ground,Brown Road,Aguda will gather politicians, youths, community leaders, religious leaders, women group, artisan organizations and others across the length and breadth of the federal constituency.

Speaking to journalists,the coordinator of the empowerment program tagged " Empowerment for Prosperity " Mr Ibrahim Peter disclosed that the event is all about presentation of equipments to artisans, youths and women, flagging of the free school bus scheme for school children and commissioning of a tailoring school.

Enthusing further, the coordinator adumbrated that the program is not a sectional one for members of its party but rather an inclusive one for all constituents irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliations.

" This forthcoming program is historic, since the inception of democracy in the fourth republic, this is the first time a message of joy will be spreading that a lawmaker plans to empower openly without fear or favor. "

"The aim is simple and unique, we must wipe out poverty out of our constituency. It won't be done by propaganda, it can only be achieved by centering our vision into reality, the tasks are enormous but we will surely surmount" Ibrahim said
