Plant a tree to save the environment, Rep Obasa charges Nigerians


The lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa has charged Nigerians to engage in regular planting of trees in order to save the environment from global warming.



Speaking at a tree planting exercise in Gombe State organized by the lawmaker representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, Hon. Aishatu Dukku, the lawmaker appealed to Nigerians not to see tree planting as a wasted exercise rather as a means to produce more oxygen for human consumption.

Global warming referred to as climate change, the effects are rise in sea level, bad weather, flooding, hurricanes, dwindling economy, poverty and so on.

He narrated that its effects which is primarily caused by fossil fuels has led to the rise in average surface temperature on earth, calling on Nigerians to see the monitoring of their environment as the only option to find a panacea to this development.

At the program were Chairman House Committee on Environment and Habitat, Hon. Chidoka Obina, Chairman House Committee on Finance, Hon. Babangida Mahuta, Clerk House Committee on. Environment, Mr Eric Makwe among other top government functionaries.
