Group Urges Support for Dogara

Ahead of the resumption of the House of Representatives next week Tuesday from a long recess, a socio-political group, the Yakubu Dogara Ambassadors has urged lawmakers in the green chamber of the National Assembly to continue to show their unrelenting support towards the Speaker and other Principal Officers of the House.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos and jointly signed by its President, Mr. Opeyemi Ahmed and Secretary, Ogbeni Folusho Awosanya.

The group's call was on the backdrop of allegations made by former House Appropriations Committee Chairman, Hon. Jibrin Abdulmumin (APC, Kano), who allegedly accused the Speaker and some Principal Officers of complacency in padding of 2016 budget.

The group explained how the Speaker's unifying leadership style has kept the house together and surpasses the expectation of Nigerians, corroborating this position with the number of bills and motions being worked on as a yardstick for the success compared to past assemblies.

Despite the initial crisis that erupted in the House, the group appreciated the remaining 359 lawmakers for their unwavering support and cooperation always being extended to the Speaker for him to be able to pilot the affairs of the house in a peaceful atmosphere.

Finally, the group urged Nigerians to channel more of their time into observing the modus operandi of the legislative arm of government, calling on them to watch and monitor the legislative proceedings of various tier of government.
