Hundreds of APC, APGA,LP and UPN members defect to PDP in Lagos State
No fewer than six hundred members of the All Progressive Congress(APC),All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA), Labour Party(LP) and United Party of Nigeria(UPN) in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The new party members, who apologized to Nigerians for voting against the party in the last general elections were received by the lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa during the party's General Assembly.
Addressing the decampees, the lawmaker told them that the party works on the principle of equality with no special preference or consideration for anyone, assuring them that there is no second class members in its fold.
Obasa described them as 'Certified Individuals' who have proven their worth in the political terrain, he charged them to commence massive mobilization for the party to ensure victory during forthcoming local government elections.
In the same vein,the local government chairman of the party, Alhaji Adio Salami informed the new members that the party remains the best platform for progressives despite losing at the centre.
Adio told them that their decision of joining the largest party in Africa was done at the right time, urging them to work hard and participate in all activities of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Hon. Muritalah Ajagun assured the party members that their defection will surely return the Peoples Democratic Party to Asorock, calling on the President to be prepared to handover in 2019.
At the progam were the apex leader of the Peoples Democratic Party Chief Kola Balogun, former state secretary of the party,Alhaji Wahab Owokoniran, state woman leader Mrs Olushola Oladehinbo among many others
